January 4, 2009 will either mark a new beginning of WWE vs. TNA..or it’ll be just another weekly WWE domination. Yes, wrestling fans are all excited about the Monday wars again, if it’ll come to fruition that is. Imagine, TNA’s AJ Styles, Angle, Wolfe etc. showcasing their talents on prime time against WWE’s Cena, Orton, DX, etc.? It’ll surely make WWE up the ante in their RAW programming and that can only mean good things for both wrestling promotions and of course, the fans. We’re all winners in this so I really wish this will start a hot feud between the most popular wrestling promotions in the world today. We might see another golden era in professional wrestling.

My favorite wrestling show is still growing strong on its 10th anniversary and that’s why Kupy Wrestling Wallpapers is celebrating Smackdown’s decade of excellence with this brand new wrestling wallpaper featuring the past, present and future of WWE Smackdown!
It all started from The Rock’s lil’ catchphrase that ends in something like “..proceed to check your candy ass into the Smackdown Hotel!” From there, WWE gave birth to the show by having it as a single TV special that aired on April 29, 1999. Then it became a weekly show aired every Thursdays (and now, Fridays) in which, at first, helped continue storylines from WWE RAW then became a brand extension on its later years. Since then, it has become a show that gave more importance to pure wrestling than controversial to absurd storylines usually found on RAW (except for some storylines like the Edge-Vickie marriage of course).
Even though Vince McMahon still favors RAW up to now, the show had its fair share of Superstar powers through the years like The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Triple H and Jeff Hardy. Smackdown also produced the badass version of John Cena (which I truly wish to come back) and the powerhouse Brock Lesnar. Rey Mysterio cemented his legacy in SmackDown! as we all know. Midcarders were able to get a lot of opportunities to shine like JBL, John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin (he failed though), and the Hardyz of course. Also, who could forget the late and legendary Eddie Guerrero?

Okay even though this wallpaper is a bit late and a bit out of favor for everyone’s liking, I still wanna post this as a memoir of my failed attempt to get this poster signed by the SD/ECW Superstars in their recent Manila tour. Click here for my WWE Smackdown/ECW in Manila experience and thoughts.
I just had to post this guys. After this, I’ll move on already :p
WWE Backlash 2009 definitely gave us a preview of how the company will be building for the future. Christian defeated Jack Swagger to become the NEW ECW Champion. Randy Orton together with his Legacy members Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. defeated the trio of Shane McMahon, Batista and Triple H to become the new WWE Champion. And lastly, with the help of Big Show, Edge defeated John Cena to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Btw, the twist I see from this storyline is that Edge will allow Big Show to have an affair with her wife Vickie Guerrero in exchange for his help in winning the WHC match. Afterall, the World Championship belt mean more than anything in the world to Edge. Anyway, these 3 brand new champions have a lot to shoulder from now on. Yes, that includes Edge because there’s no legit main-event face in the WWE Smackdown roster right now aside from The Undertaker so whoever he works with in the next few weeks will surely have to be carried by Edge himself. Christian will have his hands full probably against Tommy Dreamer and Randy Orton will have to slay a lot of challengers in WWE RAW to keep his Legacy and Age of Orton alive.
These crop of champions are definitely for real if you ask me, especially Edge and Orton of course. Christian will get there soon. Now I can say that ECW was a good start for him afterall. One more thing, the backstage skit between Edge and Christian at WWE Backlash was a mark-out moment! Reeks of awesomeness indeed! Here’s hoping for a sooner-than-later reunion of Edge and Christian!

The shock value of the recent WWE Draft has been good thus far. We saw MAJOR changes for each brand, the World Heavyweight Championship won by CM Punk, the unmovable Triple H finally going to WWE SmackDown!, ECW flushed down the toilet yet again and so much more. Vince McMahon indeed shook things up in the WWE right now and I have to admit, everything became interesting again. A breath of fresh air indeed for every WWE fan out there.

WOW! In case some of you don’t know yet, a new World Heavyweight Champion was crowned this past Monday at RAW..and it’s none other than former(now former :P) Mr. Money in the Bank, CM Punk! After being drafted to WWE Raw last week, he made his first and probably the best move yet he’s ever done in his WWE career. Yup, he cashed in his opportunity for a world title shot against..well, a fallen Edge in this week’s episode of RAW. The Rated R Superstar got a dose of his own medicine when CM Punk took advantage of Batista’s beatdown of Edge by cashing in the MITB and hitting the GTS FTW (lol so many abbrevs).
The title reign of Mr. Straight Edge Hardcore (on a major brand that is) is finally here! Congrats CM Punk! Thanks again McDaZzA for this cool HDTV WWE Draft screenshot of CM Punk last week!

The upcoming draft in 2 weeks time will apparently have seismic effect on the whole WWE landscape accdg. to WWE.com itself. We don’t know who exactly who will go where..maybe the obvious ones are CM Punk, Mark Henry and Umaga. This shakeup will hopefully freshen things up for each brand and for more compelling television and storylines.
Earlier reports stated that the 8 combatants for this year’s KOR are the following: HHH, HBK, Y2J, MVP, CM Punk, Batista, Big Show and Umaga. Then apparently, WWE.com removed the list and now there’s no definite lineup. Mr. Kennedy and Finlay though have been added to the latest KOR preview @ WWE.com. Instead of removing the 2 of the original 8, I just added Ken Kennedy and Fit Finlay to the wallpaper
Who will be this year’s King of the Ring? Will he make a good gimmick out of it (just like the King Booker persona)? Tune in this Monday (April 21, 2008) and get to see the crowning of the new King of the Ring! Hey, King Kennedy sounds GREAT!
